Not This Time

Not This Time (foaled April 26, 2014 in Kentucky) is a Graded Stakes-winning American Thoroughbred racehorse. He raced four times as a two-year-old in 2016, gaining his biggest victory in the Grade III Iroquois Stakes before being beaten when favourite for the Breeders' Cup Juvenile. He was retired from racing due to injury in November 2016.
Background
Not This Time is a dark bay colt with a star and four white socks. He was bred in Kentucky by Albaugh Family Stable. He is from the 3 time Champion sire , who had 2010 Champion Stayer Rite of Passage, 2014 Champion 2-Year-Old-Filly Take Charge Brandi, 2004 Cartier Champion Two-year-old Colt Shamardal, 2000 Guineas winners Footstepsinthesand, 2007 Queen's Plate winner Mike Fox, 1000 Guineas winner Ghanaati, G1 winner My Typhoon, Aragorn, Ghanaati, and Maids Causeway. Not This Time is the fourth foal out of the graded stakes winning mare, Miss Macy Sue, who is also the dam of Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile winner, Liam's Map.
2016: two-year-old season and retirement
Not This Time debuted June 30 in a 6 furlong Maiden Special Weight at Churchill Downs. Sent off as the 7-1 favorite and ridden by Robby Albarado, he broke slowly, tucked in to save ground, got through and finished with a late kick.
He then entered in a one-mile Maiden Special Weight at Ellis Park on August 12. He was sent off as the 1-2 favorite and ridden by Robby Albarado, he broke in good order, angled in to set the pace, vanquished all challengers leaving the second turn and drew away to prove much the best by 10 lengths while in hand.
His next start was the Grade III Iroquois Stakes at Churchill Downs on September 17. in a field of 8, Not This Not drew post 8 and was sent off as the 9-5 favorite with Robby Albarado in the saddle. Not This Time hopped at the start to get away slowly, he settled in hand five wide, he was shaken up inside the five-sixteenths pole and swiftly ranged into striking distance through the second turn, he took over at will entering the stretch to pulled away to win by 8 3/4 lengths on a track rated muddy. After the race, Dales Romans said, "He's the real deal. He's spooky good and I think he's everything I've always thought he was. He's just so talented. He just sat outside. I usually say to stay inside and eat them if you have to in order to save ground, but when I think I have tons the best, I tell them to keep them in the clear and keep them in a nice, long gallop, and just try to overtake them and that's what he did."
Not This Time was then entered in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita Park on November 5. Not This Time was the 1-2 favorite in a competitive field of eleven that included Grade 1 winners Classic Empire (), Klimt (Del Mar Futurity), Gormley (FrontRunner), and Practical Joke (Hopeful and Champagne). At the break, Not This Time bumped with Practical Joke and then settled into mid-pack early on. Entering the stretch, Not This Time past Syndergaard and made steady progress throughout the stretch to finish second beaten by a neck to Classic Empire.
On November 21st, it was announced that Not This Time had suffered a soft tissue injury to his right front leg. He was retired to stand stud at Taylor Made Farm.
