Network Science Society is a society funded in 2009 with the aim is to help the research community interested in network science. While the tools of network science, rooted in graph theory, can traced back from the Graph Theoretical Königsberg bridge of XVIII century, network science as a new field has emerged at the early ages of the 21th century . Its emergence was triggered by the publication of a few highly cited papers on the structure of real networks, that have induced a series of fundamental advances, as well as applications ranging from biology to finance. To help researchers, students and practitioners to exchange ideas and contribute to the field, the network science community organized in order to have common meetings and eventually a yearly conference Netsci Conference. As the size of the latter grew to several hundreds participants it has become necessary to create a specific scientific society looking after the organization of the Conference with the Schools for young researchers, the participation of students and the planning for future development.
