Netop Summer Camp (also known as Camp Netop) is a boys summer camp located in the town of Casco in the Lakes Region of Maine. The camp has an extensive selection of activities to chose from including individual and team sports, arts and crafts, and wilderness trips. Netop is also a member of the American Camp Association Facilities The Camp is set on surrounded by tall pines and deciduous forests. Netop also provides modern athletic facilities such as the baseball field located right outside the lodge with its very own fence, foot markers and backstop. The camp has a private lake officially known as Dumpling Pond. The Lodge is the main building and houses all of the daily meals, in addition to some special activities. The lodge also serves as the head camp office and kitchen. Originally built in 1927 as the Crescent Lake Dance Pavilion, the Lodge predates the camp by more than 30 years. History The camp was first developed by David Webster and Ken Truscott in 1955 as "Camp Netop". They met at Rutgers University where they originally conceived of the idea to open a camp. Netop’s first season was for six weeks in 1956. There were 23 campers living in five tents. By the camp’s 25th anniversary in 1980, Netop had grown to 132 campers in 26 tents. Many campers came from the Boston and Philadelphia areas. Netop operated for 32 successful seasons until closing in 1987. In 2006, the camp reopened under the new name "Netop Summer Camp" with the leadership of former camper and staff member Stephen Hallowell. Photo gallery Notable alumni *Ed T.
