Riordan has contributed to medical papers on the effects of adult stem cells on a variety of medical conditions. Topics include stem cells and anti-aging, the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and multiple sclerosis.
In the realm of cancer treatment Riordan has co-authored papers discussing the positive impacts of high doses of Vitamin C, and of using a plant molecule that stops new blood vessels from growing, which are needed in order for abnormal tissue to grow and spread. Treatments of this kind are not accepted by mainstream medicine, and have been shown to be ineffective in controlled clinical studies .
A third paper discusses the use of another molecule from the cell walls of bacteria that both stimulates the immune system and encourages the immune system to produce a third molecule, which stops new blood vessels from growing. Both of the blood vessel inhibitor molecules were found to halt abnormal growth in a significant number of types of abnormal cell growth.
