Neil Crud

Real name Neil Birchall, is one of the most influential music figures on the North Wales music scene. Neil Crud (born 22nd November 1966) raised in Denbigh, North Wales, has been a follower of punk since the age of 11. He started out promoting gigs for punk bands in Colwyn Bay but his early life ambition was to play in a band. He was a member in a number of bands Racket, Spliffs, The Kidneys, Ruptured Kidneys, 4Q, Psychosexual Sex Terrestrials, Lemon Meringue Gang and Sons of Selina. He is now (2021) part of sub hardcore band, Spam Javelin.
Radio, Tv and Music
Crud appeared on "In Full View" in November 99' (BBC Choice digital Tv show), He then launched Secrets of Sound label in July 2001 for which he produced and managed band Pocket Venus in January 02'. He went on to set up an online database of all things "Crud" related in 99' where he realised that a huge amount of bands, musicians and people were all connected and so website Link2Wales was born. It initially only covered the North Wales area but within 18 months expanded to South Wales and Liverpool.
In 2004 Adam Walton of BBC Radio Wales invited Neil to appear once a month on his show to air archived material. This led on to Neil covering 3 full shows in 2004 and 2005 for Adam Walton during Waltons annual leave.
2005 Crud went on to join Paul Sutherland at 1000 Words Productions creating videos and live footage for bands such as The Alarm, The Boyfriends, Gene Loves Jezebel, Spear of Destiny, Downbeat Sinatra and others.
2016 Neil began broadcasting on a two hour radio show in North Wales, Tudno FM. His format was to play great music where there are no rules.
Tudno FM ended its live programming on 28th September 2020 due to operational difficulties as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Since Tudno FM ended Neil began presenting his own radio show on Twitch every Monday at 10pm.
