Background
Born in Wrexham, in Wales, in June 1982. Neil's father is Les Cartwright, a former Welsh International footballer who plied his trade with Coventry City and Wrexham. Playing Career
Hinckley United
Neil progressed to the 1st team through the reserves and the youth side, making the step up back in 1999. Currently a right sided Midfielder, though he started in the first team as a Right Back. He was part of the Hinckley United squad that won the Southern League Midlands/West Division Title in 2001, then subsequently part of the squad that qualifed for the new Conference North division in 2004. Despite scoring two goals, Neil suffered play off heartache when Hinckley United lost in the Conference North final in May 2007.

He added to his Hinckley United reputation by scoring the second goal, a 25 yard volley which made the Match of the Day goal of the month shortlist, in the 2-0, FA Cup 1st round victory over Torquay United in November 2004.

In March 2007 he broke the 300 game appearance mark for Hinckley United, then in April the same year he became all time appearance holder finishing that season with 315 appearances, confirming his magnificent contribution to the club in the last 8 years.

A double fracture of his right tibia and fibula in September 2007 means Neil's 2007/2008 season is already over. After an operation, he is not expected to be back until next season at the earliest.
