History
In the fall of 2008, Kristin Coyle and Leah Jorgensen met for the first time. During the Texas Renaissance Festival in 2009, they joined forces under the name "On the Aire". Soon after, they recruited Marie Parks and Robert Shaddox to create a unique sound within the Celtic music community.
Kristin Coyle took up the viola in middle school and violin in college. Upon joining a music fraternity, Pi Nu Epsilon, at Drexel University, she founded her first Celtic band, Pint o' Nu, from its members. She also plays penny whistle.
Leah Jorgensen began playing harp at age 9, at which time she had already taken 4 years of piano lessons. Also a proficient cellist and soprano, Leah has sung backup to Lee Greenwood and has performed for Margaret Thatcher and alongside .
Marie Parks began piano lessons at age 5 and took up the cello at age 11. She remained an active member of the classical music community through participation in choirs, pit orchestras, and handbell ensembles.
Although he described himself as a drummer at heart, Robert Shaddox began playing trombone in middle school. He remained in performance bands through college, but also joined choruses in middle school, high school, and at the University of Houston. Robert took up the bodhrán as another of his primary instruments in 1996, upon his first introduction to it.
