The Nawab of Jhelum was the hereditary title of the royal house of the Princely State of Jhelum, in modern day Pakistan. The area covered by the state encompasses much of the district, and all of the city of Jhelum.
The linear inheritor of the title, its accompanying privileges and assets in Nawab Sajjad Ali, although the title now is wholly nominal. In sheer asset terms, the Nawab of Jhelum was considered amongst the most wealthy of the royal princes of the Indian subcontinent, perhaps second of the Nizam of Hyderabad.
Nawab Sajjad Ali currently resides in the UK, where he owns and maintains a half dozen estates, in addition to his legendary wealth in Pakistan, where he maintains the fabulous Khar E Jhelum, the former princely palace. Nawab Ali is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business and Princeton University.
He is regarded as one of South Asia's most eligible bachelors.
