Nature Hills Nursery

Lead
Nature Hills Nursery was founded in 2001 by two brothers, Jeff and Bill Dinslage, as a local tree nursery serving a limited area in Omaha, Nebraska. The nursery specialized in conifer and deciduous trees. The company has since evolved into an e-commerce website, www.NatureHills.com, which ships trees, bushes, and plants nationwide directly to consumers from nurseries strategically across the country.
History
Nature Hills Nursery shipped over 1,800 different plant varieties in 2014, and it works with over 30 nurseries across the United States. NatureHills.com carries many of the top plant brands in the United States, including Proven Winners, Easy Elegance, Endless Summer, & Soutern Living plants. It also works with nurseries in several states, including California, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Alabama, & Ohio. As the leading Ecommerce plant nursery, Nature Hills Nursery was one of the first small online businesses to participate in Free Shipping Day.
Because Nature Hills Nursery was one of the first companies to develop an online business to ship plants throughout the USA, it began using “America’s Largest Online Plant Nursery” to describe its business. This tagline now appears on the company’s website, its Facebook page, and in other company correspondence. Today, NatureHills.com specializes in shipping trees, bushes, fruit-bearing plants, perennials, roses, and ornamental grasses.
In 2005 Nature Hills Nursery became a member of the Mailorder Gardening Association, now known as the Direct Gardening Association. In 2010, Nature Hills Nursery was awarded a Green Thumb Award by the association for Spice Zee Necataplum for the seeds, bulbs, and plant material division.
Nature Hills Nursery is widely known for starting the Green America Awards, which give national recognition to outstanding community gardens. The Green America Awards gives $5,000 in plants from NatureHills.com to communities and non-profit organizations that are improving the environment by creating public gardens. The winning gardens are improving the environment by restoring old buildings and lots as community gardens, refurbishing community parks, and creating wildlife habitats to protect birds and other animals. This annual award program was created in 2007. In 2008 it was recognized by America In Bloom for embodying the spirit and values of the America in Bloom program for improving communities with flowers, plants, trees, and shrubs.
