Native science

Native Science is scientific approach based on native worldview. The term is used to distinguish it from the Western Science.

Concept

Native science takes into account the relatedness of all phenomena and is based on the worldview of people living in close contact with the nature.

Tenets of Native Philosophy

* All human knowledge is related to the creation of the world and the emergence of humans; therefore, human knowledge is based on human cosmology.

* Dynamic multidimensional harmony is a perpetual state of the universe.

* Humanity has an important role in the perpetuation of the natural processes of the world.

* There is significance to each natural place because each place reflects the whole order of nature.

* There are stages of initiation to knowledge.

* Elders are relied upon as the keepers of essential knowledge.

* Every "thing" is animate and has spirit.

* Dreams are gateways to creative possibilities if used wisely and practically.

The base of all the tenets: Native science integrates a spiritual orientation.


Western Science vs. Native Science

Western hard sciences try to dissect things in laboratory to see how do they behave.
Native science goes to nature to experience how things operate in their context.
