Natasha Tsukanova (born February 4, 1967) is a businesswoman and patron of the arts. She is best known as founder of XENON Capital Partners and the Tsukanov Family Foundation. Early life and Education Tsukanova was born in Moscow, Russia. She holds a degree in Economics from Moscow State University, was awarded a scholarship at Harvard and completed an MBA degree with Honors at INSEAD. Career Natasha Tsukanova started her career in 1992 working in a group of economic advisors supported by Harvard University on the privatisation reforms in Russia, and subsequently at the Boston Consulting Group in London and Moscow. In 1997, she joined J.P. Morgan's energy team in London and in 2005 she was appointed Head of Investment Banking in the former Soviet CIS region, including in Russia, Ukraine and the Central Asian states. Under her management, J.P. Morgan achieved a leading position in the region in terms of M&A deals (first place in 2007). Tsukanova played a leading role in structuring several emerging markets transactions, including advising on major IPOs of significant regional companies, such as Rosneft and Sberbank. Her team worked on a restructuring of the electric power industry and the privatisation of RAO UES in 2007. In 2009, Tsukanova founded an advisory firm XENON Capital Partners, which originally specialised in the power and energy sectors. The company has acted as a financial advisor for clients on strategic M&A transactions, capital raisings and investment initiatives. Tsukanova is also on the Advisory Board of fund manager Kerogen Capital, an Asia-based $1bn energy private equity fund. Philanthropy In 2009, Together with her husband Igor Tsukanov, Natasha founded the Tsukanov Family Foundation (TFF), which supports projects in the arts, culture and education. Among its significant projects are several major collaborations with the Saatchi Gallery, the provision of scholarships at some of Britain’s top schools, and support of productions at the Royal Opera House. The Tsukanov Foundation also supports various programmes in the field of art education, including at the Yale School of Art (USA), Goldsmiths (UK) and the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA, Russia). The TFF owns one of the world’s largest collections of post-war Soviet art and has donated several important pieces to international museums. Natasha also serves on the children’s cancer charity Gift of Life GALA committee. In 2018, she was on the committee of “Romantic Revolution”, a joint performance programme of The London Ballet School and the Bolshoi Theatre Ballet for the underprivileged children in London. For six years, Natasha served on the Board of Directors of the London Philharmonic Orchestra. She was appointed Chair of the International Board of Governors of the London Philharmonic Orchestra in 2018. Since 2022, Natasha serves as a Co-Chair of the International Board of Governors together with Martin Höhmann, First Violin and President of the LPO. She also served on the Development Committee and Board of Honorary Directors of the Royal Opera House. In March 2022, Natasha and Igor Tsukanov hosted a fundraiser with the writer Boris Akunin in London in support of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. The event which was held at the home of Igor and Natasha Tsukanov, touched on issues such as the tragedy in Ukraine, the local volunteer initiatives to aid refugees and the new charity organisation "Real Russia" was highlighted. Recognition In 1995 Tsukanova along with her co-authors Paul L. Joskow and Richard Schmalensee, were the recipients of the Edward A. Hewitt Prize awarded by the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies. The award was given for their article on "Competition Policy in Russia During and After Privatization," published in the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity. In 2012, XENON and Tsukanova as its Managing Director, won the Finance Monthly’s Deal Maker of the Year Award for bringing together an international consortium of private equity investors to acquire a 26.43% stake in power producer OJSC ENEL OGK-5. The sale of 26.4% of OJSC ENEL OGK-5, a utility controlled by Italy’s Enel SpA, to a group of four investors. Personal life Tsukanova is married to art collector Igor Tsukanov.
