Nannette Miranda is a former television journalist and current communications director for California Assemblyman Phil Ting. Background Miranda was raised in Fremont and graduated from Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward, California. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley in California in Mass Communications before receiving her Master of Science from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. In 2013, ABC closed its Sacramento bureau and Miranda was laid off. but left in June 2015. Since February 2018, she has been the communications director for Phil Ting, who represents California's 19th State Assembly district in the California State Assembly.<ref name=":0" /> Awards and accomplishments Miranda was awarded the Best Foreign Reporting Award in 2002 and the Best Breaking News Award in 2003 from the Society of Professional Journalists during her time in Florida.<ref name=":1" />
