Naila Azad Nupur is an actress, dancer, performer, director, choreographer, costume designer from Bangladesh. Early life Her parents are from West Bengal in India. She was born in Bangladesh on 6th February. In the 80s she was a theatre artist and worked at Dhaka Theatre. In 1980 she got chance in a movie called 'Ghuddi' along side Raisul Islam Asad and Suborna Mustafa. She moved to the United States in 1989 for a higher degree in theater, film and acting. She graduated from Antioch University with a B.F.A in Theatre and in 1997 received her M.F.A in Theatre, Film & Television from the University Of California, Los Angeles. Since then she has been working in Los Angeles, New York, India and Bangladesh, as an performer, director and choreographer. She has been a member of Ziggurat Theatre since 1997. She has acted in plays at the Fountain Theatre, East-West Players, and Ziggurat Theatre. Career He has also acted in several Hollywood movies. The Hollywood movie 'Crossing Over' starring Naila Azad as Rokeya Jahangir and Harrison Ford was released in 2009. She played the mother of Taslima Jahangir, a 15-year-old girl from Bangladesh, presents a paper at school promoting that people should try to understand the 9/11 hijackers. She appeared in Lie to Me (stylized as Lie to me*) which is an American crime drama television series for 1 episode called Depraved Heart. After 22 years, she acted in the Bengali drama 'Jadur Shohor' of a Bangladeshi serial in 2011. After 25 years she was seen in a Bengali Movie named Ghashphul in 2015. She was also a part of the highest grossing Bengali language film of all-time at the United States Box Office called Bengali Beauty by Rahsaan Noor. She played Moshfeka, Moyna's mother in Bengali Beauty. Currently she is active in acting, directing in theatre in Bangladesh and teaching at IUB & ULAB.
