Naik Foundation, is a non-profit organisation in India working to reduce poverty, offer education, vocational training and livelihood support the local communities in Maharashtra and Gujarat. The Foundation was founded in 1998 by Nina Naik and Neeska Naik, and is involved in providing mid-day meals to students in Gujarat and Maharashtra. Naik Foundation currently provides nutritious meals to over 125,000 students on a daily basis across 1000 schools in India. In addition to this, the Naik Foundation also works closely within the communities to support education, currently offering classes in soft-toy making, tailoring as well as IT and computer training. Programme verticals The Naik Foundation currently works with beneficiaries across western India in Maharashtra, Gujarat and Dadra & Nagar Haveli. In Maharashtra, the foundation has outreach activities in Bhiwandi, Shahapur, Palghar, Navi Dapcheri, Dahanu, Karjat, Thane, Usgaon, Uttan, Ganeshpuri and Jawahar. In Gujarat, the foundation works in Navsari, Chikli and Endhal. The foundation also works with communities in Silvassa in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli. Key Activities • Mid-day Meals to about 1,25,000 students in over a 1000 schools in Gujarat and Maharashtra • Food supplies to around 1000 people through ashram-run schools • Soft-toy making and tailoring classes for over 20,000 women • IT and computer training to over 20,000 men or women • Community Education through Mobile & fixed libraries and E-Learning centres • Residential camps which impart vocational training and also initiates participants into Vippaasna and the basics of Yoga Collaborations Naik Foundation works in collaboration with a number of departments of the Government of India like the Department of Education, Public Health and Engineering Departments, Integrated Tribal Development Agency, and the Municipal Corporations of the cities of operation. Mid-day Meal Programs * In 2011, Naik foundation was entrusted by the Gujarat State government to provide Mid-Day Meals schools in entire Navsari District of Gujarat. * Maharashtra State government recognises Naik Foundation as one of the key NGO's providing Mid-day Meals in Pune, Thane & Mumbai districts of the state. IT and Computer Training Naik Foundation in association with Aptech, provides IT literacy courses on its mobile vans and as part of the residential camps in Maharashtra and Gujarat. The students are then graded on performance and a government-recognized certificate is issued. The Naik Foundation also trains students at the Government Authorised MS-CIT centre in Padgha, Bhiwandi. Till date, the Naik Foundation has provided IT literacy to around 60,000+ students
