Nagayana

Nagayana is a Raj Comics summer 2007 - 08 crossover event. Nagayan depicts the alternate future of Nagraj and Super Commando Dhruva. First Comic of the series titled Varan Kaand was released in the June 2007. Nagayana was supposed to be finished by Diwali, the biggest Hindu festival so as coincide with the story of Ramayana. This did not happen because Raj Comics has decided to release other comics in between as well and the series has been moved into 2009. The series finally ended in March 2009 with Iti kand.
Plot summary
Nagayana is loosely based on the Hindu epic of Ramayana. Its timeframe starts from year 2023 AD. It puts the two major super heroes of the Raj Comics family Nagraj and Super Commando Dhruva in roles similar those of Hindu god Rama and his younger brother Lakshmana. The equivalent of Ravana, is played by Nagraj's uncle Naagpasha, who has been trifurcated into Kroorpasha the Brutal one, Bheerupaasha, the coward one and Suptpaasha, the asleep one, the Raj Comics version of Kumbhakarna due to an experiment by his teacher Gurudev. Naagpaasha is shown to be deriving powers from Mahakaal Chhidra or the Black Hole.
However, it may be noted that Nagayan is different from Ramayan in several aspects.
Overview
Important changes to Raj Comics time line is that both Nagraj and Super Commando Dhruva are married. While Nagraj is married to Bharti in 2023 AD, this marriage was only a legal arrangement to ensure that the management on Nagraj's media conglomerate Bharti Communications (Of which Nagraj's alter ego Raj, is the Public Relations Officer) remains in his hands through Bharti. Later on Nagraj also get married to Visarpi for making the whole Icchadari Snakes as his allys.
Super Commando Dhruva is married to , daughter of his arch rival and the couple has a son named Rishi. Their marriage is said to have lasted only 60 months and by the end of Nagayana's first part Varan Kaand, Natasha is shown to have procured divorce on the very first hearing. The Divorce decree was given ex-parte and in absence of Dhruva.
Moreover, Nagina an ally of Nagpaasha, has seemingly modified court records and created false precedents while pleading as Natasha's lawyer Gina because the judge is shown to be sure that he cannot remember any such precedent. However he has to grant an ex-parte divorce because of supposedly modified court records.
It is revealed in the latest issue that the court decree was a decree of separation and not of divorce. It is also revealed that Natasha asked for decree under orders from Baba Gorakhnath who is the generalissimo of the forces of good. She is shown to be cynical about the presence of Richa (Black Cat) in her home and even threatens to "spill the beans" if Richa tries to get too close to her husband.
A surprise about Nagina is shown when she reveals that she is mother of Visarpi. After that she is killed by Nagpasha but not actually killed as she converts herself into spirits using her power.

Varan-kand
Story begins in 2023 AD when a Comet (Dhumketu) loaded with most destructive power called Black hole will going to hit the Earth and going to destroy all life on Earth. To escape from this enormous calamity, almost half of Earth population shifted to underground cities. At the same time at some remote location, Naagpasha's Gurudev is experimenting for five years to remove laziness and timidity of Naagpasha. Nagraj finds about Naagpasha and after fighting with one of Gurudev's robotic creature, Nagraj reaches the island and confront Naagpasha. Suddenly both, Nagpasha and Nagraj, see something and get shocked. Now the scene appears in year 2025 AD, when Earth is under the influence of Black creatures and Nagraj and Dhruva are fighting against these black powers. Dhananjay, a friend of Dhruva from golden city, is also helping in the fight against black powers. After a fight with black powers, Nagraj for a while turned and start fighting with Dhruva and during this fight get injured and ran. Dhruva follows him and reaches Bharti Enterprises and comes to know that he was fighting with the drone of Nagraj and real Nagraj is in Coma after the comet incident on the island in year 2023, and Nagpasha is converted into Krurpaasha. He also learns that the marriage of Nagraj and Bharti is just a legal settlement to save Bharti enterprise. The scene also describes that the reason of Black powers on Earth is due to a Creature named MahaKalChidra (Black Hole) and he gives his powers to Krurpaasha to rule the world with black powers. In Bharti Enterprises, Baba Goraknaath uses his powers to neutralize the influence of black powers and treats Nagraj and in turn loses some of his own powers. Later, Baba Goraknaath takes Super Commando Dhruva and Nagraj to a place named AyudKhetra (battle ground) to prepare for coming battle with black powers and with the help of genetic robot of guru dronacharya, both learn how to use Astras (divine weapons) . Finally, they move to Mulkhetra to participate in marriage (swayamvar) of Visharpi and find themselves face-to-face with Krurpasha. In another scene at court, where Natasha, wife of Super Commando Dhruva, filed an appeal for divorce, and with the help of a new advocate named Gina, which later revealed to be Nagina, she succeeded to win the case as well as custody of her and Dhruva's son. Grahan-kand
Second part in Nagayan Series story continues from Varan-Kand. Krurpaasha unable to fulfill the condition of Marriage (which is to cut the head of a snake with a sword made with the heaviest material in the universe named Garbheera), Nagraj completes the task but Visharpi refuses to marriage. Mahatma Kaldoot come at the place in anger and ask who destroyed the holy sword. They call for punishment but are interrupted by Super Commando Dhruva then a fight begins. In order to keep Dhruv safe Nagraj is caught in weapon Kaalsarphi, then Visharpi comes and save him but agrees to marriage with Nagraj. In another scene, a fight starts between Richa and Natasha (wife of Super Commando Dhruva) when Richa tries to stop Natasha from going with Dhruv's son. On the other hand after learning that Krurpaasha failed in Swayambar Nagina tells them to create hurdles so that they are unable to reach Raajnagar before Grahan (Solar eclipse). On the way while going to Raajnagar they are attacked by Black Forces but get rescued by Vanputra. A black creature forces the Visharpi to get inside Raajnagar during eclipse as it is believed that it creates problems on newly married couples. In nagar pravesh she is attacked by Vedacharya as he is unhappy with the marriage of Visharpi and Nagraj but finally rescued by Bharti. Haran-kand
Scene starts in the court as in the eye of the law two wives are not allowed and the judge decides that Nagraj and Visarpi get forces to live in Van(Woods) and are not allowed to enter any city unless Nagraj divorces one of his wives. Bharti applies for a divorce but is refused by Nagraj in faith of love. The lawyer behind their punishment is again Nagina. Super Commando Dhruva learns that he lost the case upon coming home and it also described that Sweata (Sister of Super Commando Dhruva) is dead. After learning about Nagraj and his case, Dhruv goes to help them. When Nagraj and Super Commando Dhruva try to go out from Forest, they are stopped by a force known as BadhaVandh. Meanwhile they are attacked by Black forces and it is revealed that the Dhruv that is with Visarpi is actually Krurpaasha. In a close fight Krurpaasha finally succeeds in taking away Visarpi. Sharan-kand
After knowing that Visarpi was kidnapped by Krurpaasha Nagraj gets angry and goes to save her along with Dhruva. As they get two different signals of Visarpi they get split up and go separate ways. In the mean time Vedacharya sends Shikangi to rescue Visarpi but he fails and is killed by Krurpaashaa. On the way Super Commando Dhruva is attacked by a Black power name Black Builder who attacks with the help of buildings from a distant place. On the other hand Nagraj is attacked in a tunnel by Yatis (Yetis). After defeating Yatis their Queen tells them the story behind the quarrel between Snakes and Yatis (she tells how SheetNaag betrayed them and killed her husband king of Yatis after throwing him is poison named Halahal) and agrees to help him. On the other side Super Commando Dhruva finally finds Black Builder and destroys him with help of some soldiers. On Naagdweep prince Vishank gets angry after hearing about the abduction of Princess Visarpi and goes with Nagsena to rescue him. Naagpaasha threatens people of the city if they do not kill Nagraj. On the other side Natasha warns his father Grand master Robo to leave the peoples of city and not to hurt them, but is caught. Nagraj is attacked by Black powers in a Jungle but is rescued and separated by VanPutra. Vishank attacks Krurpaasha . Story continues in Dahan-Kand..
Dahan-kand
Nagraj rescues VanPutra and on the other hand Black-Cat rescues Natasha. On the way to the fight they come to know that Jalaj is a child of Super Commando Dhruva and are later attacked by a culprit name Mami. In the fight between Krurpaasha and Vishank, Gurudev re-activates the genes of Krurpasha in the body of Vishank and he favors Krurpaasah. In another scene Nagraj is attacked by people of the city but saved by Saakar-Akar (Bharti). Yati Queen tries to kill Nagraj but suddenly Yati king Jingalu comes to the rescue and tells them that Nagraj is his friend. He finally finds a way to Alandhya (Lanka). Dhruv is attacked by a Black creature but later shows that it is just for their test; not a real one. In the process of rescuing Visarpi, Nagina is killed but remains in Mayavi form and reveals that Visarpi is her daughter, and curses Kroorpaasha if he tries to kill Visahrpi. Rann-kand
Super Commando Dhruva is attacked by a Black creature named Kaal Sursa. In another scene Krurpaasah tries to capture Jingaloo who is destroying Alandhya but fails. Then Krurpaasah send Vishank to capture Jingaloo. On the other side, Grand Master Robo kills the supply of fresh air and water in the underground city of Mahanagar and Raajnagar and forces people to pray to Black lord-BheeruPaasha (In the other part of Kroorpasha as in the experiment process, Naagpaahsa gets divided into three Kroorpaasha, Bheerupaasha and Suptapaasha.Other than Kroorpasha it is considered that they are their bad habits one is Timid and other is Laziness). Jingaloo is caught and in another scene it is revealed that Mami is Shweta but she is in control of Grand Master Robo due to a chip placed inside her nervous system. As a punishment Jingaloo is burned but he is divided in thousands of different forms and burns Alandhya. Bheerupaasah is controlled by Nagina. Later it is revealed that Jingaloo is not real but he is Nagoo a snake living in the body of Nagraj. In another place, the real Jingaloo is alive due to the prayer of Yati Queen. Bheerupaasha comes to Nagraj Yati's place and tells them he knows how to kill Kroorpaasha. Saakar-akar tries to open a gate to enter in Alandhya but fails and Nagraj learns that she is Bharti. He gets angry and tries to open the doors by black powers in Bheerupaasaha but is stopped by a mysterious man. The man tells them to find another way to open otherwise whole system suffers damage destroying everything. Nagraj and Super Commando Dhruva find that to go to Alandhya they can use a Black creature as it is also connected with Alandhaya. Continued in Samar-Kand..
Samar-kand
Somehow Super Commando Dhruva manages to get inside Kaal Sursa and reaches Alandhya on other side. Nagraj also makes a way with the help of his snakes and reaches Alandhya. Meanwhile Yati Queen tells Jingaloo (Nagu) why he is helping Nagraj and tells them how he was killed. As some destroy the Dam which holds Halahal (the most fatal poison which is said to be the same as the one present in Lord Shiva's kanth) resulting in death of Yatis, it causes a fight between SheetNaag and Yati. It is interrupted by a suspicious person calling himself king of Barfeele Mountains. He says that only the device named Amayak can save people, which open doors to other crossovers. It is later revealed that he is Kroorpaahsa who will kill Jingaloo and take the device Amayak. Yati Queen also tells Jingaloo that she is going to betray and kill Nagraj in Alandhya to save their child which is stuck on other crossovers so that Kroorpaasah can give him back Amayak and save his child. In another scene Nagina fits a chip in the mind of Bheerupasha so Grand Master Robo can control him. Super Commando Dhruva and his team are attacked by Black powers and on the other side Nagraj is also attacked by Yatis after learning that Jingaloo is not a Yati but a Sharp (Snake). He is saved by Nageesh son of Nagraj. After knowing why Yatis tried to kill him Nagraj send his son to rescue Prince Yati. Iti-kand
Vedacharya sacrifices his life but again makes Vishank normal. After listening to the scream of Super Commando Dhruva Jingaloo comes to Alandhya and stops a fight between Nagraj and Yati. After knowing that Dhruv is killed, Nagraj decides to call off the War, but a suspicious person comes and tells him how to rebirth Dhruv with the help of Param Srijan Astra, in apology.
Visahnk goes to take that Astra and after a Fight with its protector he is successful. Nagraj's son succeeds in rescuing prince yati. Dhruv is born again and a fight starts between Nagraj and Krurpaasah. Nagraj becomes the victor but then mysterious man discloses him as MahakalChidra and says that as Krurpaasah was destroyed in many parts, his Amrut was divided and now it is used by Black powers to become deathless. Dhruv and others sacrifice their lives and cover the parts of Kroorpaash under them so it stops. At last scene the sons of all main character are described as the next generation.
