Nadelakandy

Nadelakandy Warriors Or Nadelkar Communities
Nadelakandy Warriors OR Nadelkars are one of the Kshatriya Clans of Warriors, similar to Chekavar/Tiyyar Warriors community had been originated & emerged in the Panthalayani Province of North Malabar OR Northern Kerala with roots of Royal lineage of Simhala Rajya (Ceylon).
Historically speaking all these communities connected to the clans of Lankan Warriors migrated from Central Kandy Province of Sri Lanka, far before the 3000BCE, Since the inception of land Kerala (Translation of Central Kandy is “Naduvila Kandy” shortened as Nadelakandy. They were the few among the first visited the coastal land of Kerala, when there was nothing in this region other than Jungle in this Malabar coast and rest all communities landed up later.
The above clans and their associated communities have contributed immense in the socio-economic progression and development of Kerala, which includes them serving various dynasties, Mythically speaking from the era of Parasuram and Historically speaking since 6th Century BCE Viz, Mushika Kolathiris, Pandya, Chera, Chola, Zamoorins,Payazhi Raja and also the freedom fight of india as per the available historical briefs.
They were conceptually socialist due to the influence of shiva yoga/Yogis and in succession many of them got influenced with the thesis of Marxism/communism in the later centuries, which inversely affected their community in achieving significance as the many groups stuck to left liberalism post independence too, which the Govts were not in favor.
According to the myths & history, following are the concepts about the migration and expansion of this community.
A large group of Simhala Warriors Sailed in from Sri Lanka for joining with Parasuram & supporting his fellow troops Shiva Yogis (Kalari Martial) to strengthen the war force against the Feudal kshatriyas like Naik/Nayak/Nair etc. The troops from Ceylon was sailing in 10 big yachts, which was called Pathemari and anchored in the deep water of malabar coast with a beautiful shore nearby, this place later called as Pantalayani (A space to anchor Tent in Water/Layani), which is the same place nearby Calicut, where in the later millenniums many sailors landed including Vasco Da Gama in AD 1498.

Being a Shiva Yogi believer Parasuram was planning to strengthen his troops pulling Sri Lankan Warrior (Simhala), Sindhi-Warrior (Singh) and others in synch. Simhala Warriors were planning to advance through the shore of Malabar to get connected with Parasuram troops But at that point the land was risky, abandoned space with dense hilly jungle protruding in to sea. In such context the troops sailed towards Gokharan (Konkan Coast) and got connected the fighting troops of Yogis, those were in minimum strength and more dependent on Guerilla tactical War-fare. In result Parasuram won the war against feudal kshatriyas of Rajputana & Coastal Naik-Nairs (Naikars) by Utilising the Sindhi Jaat & Simhala Warriors respectively.

Post War, Parasuram moved down from Konkan towards south searching a place for settling his combined troops, where simhala warriors briefed about their earmarked panthalayani shore in the cost. Further troops started clearing the jungle towards Malabar. Here the myth says Parasuram taught the troops a tactics of boom-rang axe to deal with risk of Jungle & Water.
This activity was largely about cutting trees & reclaiming land, which on a note of Exaggeration interpreted as ace of axe etc. To expedite these efforts the troops were categorized based on their skills and more troops were called from Lanka. Based on their task & place of landing, they had been termed with following names, which was the beginning of Current Caste system in kerala & also the Malayalam language is a mix of Sanskrit-Simhala-Tamil.
1) Firemen Sailed across sea to fire the dense forest & to reclaim the land was called "Thiyyar" (Firemen) & the Places like Thikoodi/Thiyoor named so.
2) Lumber men Landed at a place of 7hills called as Ezhavan (Seventh Hill Foresters) & place named "Ezhimala".
3) The Hefty Troop member, those who use to carry other troop on shoulder to cross the mangrove & sluggish land being called as Thandaan.
4) The Close Protection body guards of leader were called as Sevakar But later this name changed as Chekavar in the 3rd Century BCE as they got in to troops of King Chera Kerala Verma as Chera-Sevakar shortned as Chekavar.
5) Shiva Yogis were settled initially at Ezhimala near payyannur & further they made their soldier's headcounters at Kannur Chirakkal. Their one of the known naval base was at Panthalayini, where there soldiers were used to stay Nadelakandy.
In the current days also there are so many honored soldiers of Nadelakandy province served indian army, airforce & navy from this community (Captain PKB Krishnan/ Wing Cdr.Kumar-IAF/ T.N.A kumar Chief india navy etc/ Anup Kumar UN mission force)and also many other reputed professionals like Dr. Gopinathan, Dr. Satheshan, Astrolger Balakrishna Panicker, IT officer Krishna Kanth, Anish Kumar T N, (Chief Engineer) and Engineer T N Gangadharan, the one who introduced trolleying fishing in india with the tie-up of Japan so on.
