MyTownRocks.TV

MyTownRocks.TV is an online music entertainment platform providing a community connection through music. Founded by Mark David McKinnis, the concept began as a tool to promote under the radar songwriters in a televised production, SpotlightON Performing Songwriters which began production in 2001 in Little Rock, Arkansas. This series ran on various local affiliate stations for ABC, NBC and with one national televised run on Ovation TV in 2009. The series featured over 100 touring acoustic artists making a living through the art and craft of songwriting and performing - including, Jason White, Nelly McKay, Ben Sollee, Mark Selby, Jimbo Mathus, Theresa Andersson, Keaton Simons, Tony Lucca, Richard Julian, Keith Sykes and Brave Combo among others. Later, adding plugged in production of music acts, MyTownRocks.TV ran as a pilot promotion series for bands airing for ten weeks on the local NBC affiliate in Little Rock, Arkansas. The pilot show featured THAT1GUY (Mike Silverman) and aired in February of 2011. Attempting to evolve to a national scale, the producers developed MyTownRocks.TV, as a national concept pairing auto dealers with artists and towns in an online competition which began to formulate but didn’t gain momentum until a new campaign, deleting the competitive element, began in January of 2014, with the first sponsor signing on May 2014. The concept still failed to gain grounds to continue and the original founders started by Mark David McKinnis and Catherine McKinnis, closed the project at the end of 2014. In 2015, a Los Angeles based company, McKinnis Entertainment, LLC acquired the content and rights and formed MyTownRocks.TV as an online platform to host several music shows and online community participation. Production began on the rockumentary series Humble Ground, featuring Scotty Morris, founder of the swing band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and his hometown of Ventura, California. The pilot episode was shot and edited in October of 2015, as the first episode in the series Humble Ground on the MyTownRocks.TV platform.
