"My Face" is a song by John Foxx, released as a flexi-disc only single given free with Smash Hits magazine, Vol. 2 No. 20, covering the period October 2-15, 1980. Although the darker synth-pop style of the song reflects that of other songs from the Metamatic album released at the beginning of the year, it would be Foxx's last fully electronic release of the eighties, moving towards a more organic style with successive single "Miles Away" and the The Garden released in 1981. In the same issue however Smash Hits confusingly reports that "My Face" "..is one of the forty or so that the man has been working up while preparing for his second solo album." "My Face" is the only track on the record, and as a flexi-disc there is no 'B side'. The song was released for the first time on CD on the 2001 compilation album Modern Art. It was also included on the 2007 re-issue of Metamatic (disc 2, track 10), and played during the live performances of Metamatic in its entirety with related tracks in 2007, as documented on the album A New Kind Of Man. Track listing * "My Face" written and produced by John Foxx Smash Hits issue Strangely, the issue of Smash Hits bearing the disc had the flexi-disc attached to the face of Gary Numan. As well as a short article on John Foxx, it carried a feature on Gary Numan performing live.
