Murder on a Horse Trail: The Disappearance of Chandra Levy is a non-fiction true crime book by Ralph Daugherty. Published through iUniverse in 2004, it covers the 2001 disappearance of intern Chandra Levy in Washington, D.C. Background Daugherty, a computer programmer by trade, first became interested in the Levy case when the Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia released an edited list of websites that she had last visited before her disappearance on May 1, 2001. He began comparing newspaper clippings that he had collected to find discrepancies in reporting by the news media. He eventually became heavily involved in websites dedicated to similar missing person cases, such as Laci Peterson. On June 26, 2008, Daugherty came to the Cold Case Investigative Research Institute at Bauder College in Atlanta, Georgia, to speak with students about his research into the Levy case and help provide insights into gaps in the timeline of Levy's activity between December 2000 and April 2001.<ref name="CNN-20080728"/> Reviews According to Wilfred F. Voss, the book's analysis "raises many troubling questions" about the reporting of the case; Voss stated, "This is more than a media frenzy, it is a compelling murder mystery waiting to be unravelled."<ref name="FrozenYogurt-20101019"/>
