Keetmans man gets 18 years for cigarette murder A recent murder of a young man over a cigarette has been reported in Keetmanshoop , (Namibia). The young man known by the name Manfred Klippert (21) was Stapped to death by the 37 year old Joel Bethuel Dauseb near a bar in Keetmanshoops' Tseiblaagte residential area on the 28 of April 2008, based on an article in The New Era. According to witnesses as state by Luqman Cloete, told the court that Dauseb ultimately stabbed Klippert due to an argument they had over a cigarette. The argument started when Dauseb asked Silas Basson, who amongst other friends of Klippert, for a puff from his cigarette. Basson however refused to share the cigarette and walked off with his friends. Dauseb followed the group of friends and Klippert asked him why he was doing so, but in respond Dausab stabbed klippert in the neck and fled the scene. Regional Magistrate sunsley Zigsengwe described the murder as "callous and cruel" according to article in the Namibia Newspaper, before sentencing Dausab for 18 years of imprisonment, of which two years were suspended for five years.
