Muck and the Mires

Muck and the Mires are an American rock and roll band. Their music is a cross between the 1964 British Invasion and American garage rock of the 1960s.
The band
Muck and the Mires began as a studio project by Evan Shore, otherwise known as "Muck". Following the release of his demos in 2001 under the title All Mucked Up on Canadian label AMP Records, a band was assembled with each member stepping into the pseudonyms listed on the original record jacket. The Muck and the Mires current lineup features Muck, original drummer Jessie Best, long-time bassist Jogn Quincy Mire, and founding lead guitarist Pedro Mire who returned to the group in 2012.
One of the band's early Boston-area shows was opening for a live appearance by Mike Smith of The Dave Clark Five.
In 2004, the group released its first proper album, Beginner's Muck, once again on the AMP label. That same year, the group was featured on MTV when they became the co-winners of Little Steven's Underground Garage Battle of the Bands. Other 2004 highlights include an appearance at the Las Vegas Rockaround (North America's largest garage rock event) and their first European tour.
In 2006, Dionysus Records (Hollywood, CA) and Soundflat Records (Cologne, Germany) released the album 1-2-3-4. The CD reached the Number One position on WMBR in Cambridge, MA. The group soon embarked on a 7-country tour to support the album. While in Liverpool, England for a show at the legendary Cavern Club, the group arranged a meeting with former Beatles manager Allan Williams. Mr. Williams declined the band's offer of a management position.
In late 2007, the band began recording an album with rock legend Kim Fowley and Maria Baglien at Lo Fi Studios in Loma Linda, CA. These recording sessions were originally supposed to take place in Scotland, but heavy rain destroyed the recording studio where the sessions were booked. In 2008, London-based label Dirty Water Records released the four song EP Doreen featuring four of the tracks from the Kim Fowley recordings. In 2009, Dirty Water Records released the Kim Fowley sessions in their entirety as Hypnotic. The band wrapped up 2009 sharing a New Year's Eve show with Roky Erickson at the famed Maxwell's in Hoboken, New Jersey.
In 2011, Dirty Water Records, distributed by Cargo in Europe and Red Eye in the US released A Cellarful of Muck produced by Jim Diamond of White Stripes fame. 2015 saw the release of "Dial M for Muck", with tracks produced by Jim Diamond and Kim Fowley.
In 2016, Creature Double Feature, a split 7" EP with Tokyo's The Fadeaways released by Dirty Water Records to promote the two groups' tour of Japan, was an unexpected cult hit reaching the number one position on College radio giant WMBR's rock charts.
The band has played shows in Austria, Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Japan, and the United States.
