Mountainviews.ie

MountainViews.ie is a non-profit, online resource for hillwalkers on the island of Ireland. To date the website contains information on 1,057 hills or mountains, which represent the collaborative contributions of over 1,000 registered members.
Origins
The website was founded in 2002 by Simon Stewart, a hillwalking enthusiast with a professional background in software development. The site makes provision for comments on mountains, photographs, GPS tracks and suggestions from members who have ascended a particular mountain. These might include basic information such as parking facilities, suggested routes, access issues (in the event that access is across private land), difficulty, time for ascent, precise location of summit, general topographical information and whether the summit may be completed as part of a longer route.
As of 2013 the site contains over 6000 comments by members on summits. Since 2012 the website offers a GPS track sharing service, with as of mid 2013, over 500 GPS tracks uploaded.
