Mouldings Industry Association

The Mouldings Industry Association is a non-profit organisation that was setup by volunteers within the construction industry, to standardise the manufacture of mouldings in the United Kingdom. The objective of the organisation is to raise an awareness of quality control, and to bring a focus to the designs of profiles being used by architects and builders.
The mouldings that are covered by the standards control of the MIA includes skirting boards (baseboards), architraves and dado rails. Between these components, most profiles are considered and standardised by the organisation.
Membership
There is no payment for membership of the MIA, however there are criteria of quality control, and the manufacturer must demonstrate that they are using a recognised method to standardise their profiling of mouldings, and conform to a standard exacting of the MIA.
Standard and quality
The MIA supports standardisation of moulding profiles so that they conform to a recognised range of designs, ensuring that construction projects also conform to UK standards and quality assurance such as ISO 9000.
Quality of production is a key aspect for membership of the MIA, for example MDF and Hardwoods are not permissible to be produced in the same environment due to legal restrictions. The MIA aims to regulate its members by only allowing those who conform to such laws to become members.
