In 2004, Wolf Eyes and Sonic Youth claim to have encountered a protest group called Mothers Against Noise , run by a M. Smith, this groups aim would be to protest, infiltrate and disrupt Noise bands at concerts and on the internet. Some confusion exists around this group with some contesting its authenticity and arguing it is nothing more than an attempt at a viral marketing hoax. The organization dissapeared quickly as it formed after rumours sweeped accross the internet and music magazines. No one has claimed responsiblity but some suspects have been Tom Smith, Twig Harper/Steev Mike, Thurston Moore, Wolf Eyes, Radiohead or Andrew W.K
