Medical Faculty

Russian Medium Department (Doctor of Medicine)

In order to be admitted to this department the applicant should first take the Preparatory Course. The duration of this course is one academic year. During this year the applicant will be studying Russian language and basic disciplines: Chemistry, Physics, and Biology. The duration of the course in General Medicine Faculty, Russian Medium Department is six years. After the successful completion of the academic curriculum final-year students are awarded Doctor of Medicine degree and the State Diploma.

The duration of the full course is six years. The tuition is arranged completely in English during the whole course. After the successful completion of the academic curriculum final-year students receive the State Diploma and are awarded Doctor of Medicine degree.

Pharmaceutical Faculty
Russian Medium Department (Master of Pharmacy)

The tuition is arranged in Russian. The duration of the program is 6 years (including the Preparatory Course). Those students who have not taken the Preparatory Course are tested on the Russian language, Biology and Chemistry. According to the results achieved they are admitted to the first year of the Pharmaceutical Faculty. After the successful completion of the academic curriculum the students receive the State Diploma and are awarded Master of Pharmacy degree.

French Medium Department (Master of Pharmacy)

The first three years the tuition is arranged completely in French. The duration of the program is five years. After the successful completion of the academic curriculum final-year students receive the State Diploma and are awarded Master of Pharmacy degree.

Stomatological Faculty

Russian Medium Department (Master of Pharmacy)

The training is conducted in Russian. The duration of the training course is 5 years. Foreign students are admitted to the 1st year on test results in Russian, Chemistry and Biology (except for those who finished the Preparatory Course). On successful completion of the training course at the Stomatological faculty students receive the State Diploma and are awarded Doctor of Stomatology degree.

Preparatory Course

*Russian Medium Department (Master of Pharmacy)

At this course termed as the Preparatory the students learn Russian and study such subjects in Russian as: chemistry, biology and physics. The duration of the course is 10 month (from October 1 till June 31). After the successful completion of the course the students are admitted to the first year of the Medical or Pharmaceutical Faculty.

*Foundation Course (Pre-Medical Course for Malaysian students)

Foundation Course is a Bio-Medical Course of basic subjects which includes training in Chemistry, Physics and Biology as well as an intensive Russian language course. The duration of the course is 5 months. The course starts on February 7. After successful completion of the course the students will be admitted to the 1st year of the Medical Faculty, English Medium Department.

*Postgraduate Courses

More than 40 chairs are offered for the postgraduate training. The training is conducted in Russian. The course is preceded by a one-year Preparatory course of studying Russian for the doctors who come to continue their medical education in Russia.

The requirements for the postgraduate training: the degree of M.D. or Ph.M. Entrance test: interview on the speciality chosen in Russian.

*Internship - the duration is 1 year.

*Clinical training course (Residency) - the duration is 2 years.

*Ph.D. training course (Candidates of Medical Sciences) - the duration is 3 years.

Educationl Programmes at Russian State Medical University

Medical Faculty (English Medium)

The medium of training for the pre-clinical studies (the first 3 years) is English. The students who have chosen the English Language Department do not have to study at the Preparatory Course. They will be admitted to the 1st year based upon the tests results. After the successful completion of the academic program the students will receive the State Diploma and will be awarded Doctor of Medicine degree.

English Medium Department (Doctor of Medicine)

Entrance requirements for undergraduates

* Application form
* Notarized copy of higher secondary education certificate (including mark sheet) in English or French
* Copy of national passport
* Medical certificate
* 10 passport-size photos

Admission criteria are: higher secondary education with 70% grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics; age limits - 17-30 y.o.

Entrance exams: interview in Russian (except English Medium and French Pharmaceutical Faculties) and tests on chemistry, physics and biology.

Application deadline: August 1 (for all undergraduate courses except for the Preparatory Course); September 1 (for the Preparatory Course)

Study Schedule

Academic year: Each academic year starts on the 1st of September (at the Preparatory Faculty - on the 1st of October).

Semester: There are 2 semesters in the academic year: from September to January and from February to June.

Examinations and tests: The first semester exams are usually held in June. The number of tests and examinations to be taken during every academic year is strictly formulated by the head of the University. The student's performance on the test is designated as "passed" or "failed" and at the examinations as "excellent", "good", "satisfactory", and "unsatisfactory". The second semester exams are held in January.

Vacations: All students have their vacations twice a year: summer vacation - from the 3rd of July to the 31st of August and winter vacation - from the 15th of January to the 7th of February.

Hostel & Accommodation

The students are provided with hostel accommodation, on sharing basis - 2-3 persons in a room, library and sport facilities. They also get a medical insurance which is compulsory for each student.
