Morgantown Mall

Overview
The Morgantown Mall is located northwest of the city of Morgantown's central business district along Interstate 79. The mall is not in Westover, WV city limits. The mall sits atop a plateau and is the newest mall within North-Central West Virginia. The road adjacent to the mall sees an average of 35,000 vehicles a day with that number increasing each month.

Retailers
The mall includes major department stores and junior department stores. Sears is located in the east corner, Elder Beerman in the center, JC Penney, also in the center, and Belk is on the west end. With the exception of Belk, all of the other 3 anchors have been at the mall since its opening; Belk's space was previously held by Proffitt's and before that was K-Mart, the original store in the location. The mall also features Steve & Barry's, American Eagle Outfitters, Carmike Cinemas, FYE, and many other stores and restaurants. The Morgantown Commons above the mall, also owned by Glimcher and detached from the mall, opened the newest retailer — Gabriel Brothers — in fall 2006.

Minor attraction
Kids Play Area
In 2003 the mall decided to remove the fountain that beautified its center court area and replaced it with the ever popular children's play area where kids can have a chance to play and a place for parents to relax while their children run around the scenes of a bear, tree, and log. Many parents and kids can be seen sitting in this area during peak mall hours.

History
The Morgantown Mall first opened its doors to the public in 1990 as a newer mall alternative to the Mountaineer Mall located across town above Greenbag Road. Due to the demand for space and modern appeal many anchors of the Mountaineer Mall abandoned the mall and began a move to the Morgantown Mall. Only Elder Beerman operates two stores in Morgantown, with one as a primary store, while the other operates as sort of an outlet version of the store, albeit still offering its latest styles.
