Monash Blues Football Club

The Monash Blues are the official Australian Rules Football Team of Monash University Clayton campus and field four teams (Seniors, Under 19s, Reserves and Thirds). The club is based at the Frearson Oval on the University’s Clayton Campus, the Senior, Reserve and Thirds sides currently play in "Premier C" of the Victorian Amateur Football Association, the largest amateur football league in Australia. A key purpose of the Club is to provide a second home to players from the country with a large portion of the clubs playing list drawing from the nearby Monash University Halls of Residence and Mannix College. The club is also commonly known as the "Ashes".
Club History
The Monash University Football Club was formed in 1961 and established itself as a member of the VAFA in 1962. As the University grew, so did the Football Club. A second side was formed in 1964 as the Whites and played in F Grade; before it was replaced by a Junior side in 1966. As numbers continued to grow, the Whites side was revived in 1971. In 2000 the Club was reunited under the Monash Blues banner, with the Whites forming the third senior side and playing in the VAFA Club XVIII competition until moving to the newly created thirds competition in 2014.
