Modemhead is a cyberpunk short film about the last man not connected to the internet. Plot Set in the year 2058, exactly 100 years after the birth of the internet, the film opens with a quote from J.C.R. Licklider from Man-Computer Symbiosis: <div style="fixed: right;"> </div> Zoe and Adam lay in bed, and Zoe expresses interest in 'plugging in'. Adam angrily refuses to do the same. Zoe then plugs into the internet in a room covered with images of J.C.R. Licklider. Adam works in his mundane office job, deleting peoples profiles on a computer screen. Eventually Zoe's profile comes up and Adam seeks consolation from his mother. She, too is 'plugged in', and Adam becomes distressed, tearing Zoe's modem off. She screams, and Adam is seen cursing the sun. Adam then has a mask applied to his head as well.
