Mirpur International Airport is a proposed international airport that will be built in the Mirpur Distict of Azad Kashmir, if planning is approved. The airport would serve the districts capital, Mirpur City & other towns of the region. Like Sialkot International Airport it would be built through public-private partnership.
The beginning of Mirpur International The plan was first proposed in 1998 by Barrister Sultan Mahmood, who at the time was the prime minister of Azad Kashmir. During this time Sultan’s government made every effort to seek private sector investors for the proposed airport but were unsuccessful which lead to the project being shelved.
