Mikey Way

Michael James Way (born September 10, 1980), better known as Mikey Way, is an American bassist for the band My Chemical Romance.
Early life
Mikey Way was born September 10, 1980 in Newark, New Jersey, to Donna Lee (née Rush) and Donald Way. He has Italian (from his maternal grandmother) and Scottish ancestry. He is the younger brother of Gerard Way, the frontman of My Chemical Romance, with whom he has a very close relationship. Growing up, Way worked for Barnes & Noble, in addition to being an intern at Eyeball Records (the company that put out My Chemical Romance's debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love). The first concert he ever went to was a Smashing Pumpkins concert. Before he joined My Chemical Romance, Mikey auditioned for Frank Iero's (rhythm guitarist for My Chemical Romance) band, Pencey Prep. He did not make the cut. During the few first shows My Chemical Romance played, Mikey drank liquor heavily to mask his extreme stage fright.
Personal life
Way married My Chemical Romance's guitar technician and merchandise seller Alicia Simmons on March 8th, 2007. Alicia was a touring bassist for From First to Last in 2005. The couple currently reside in Los Angeles, California. They have matching tattoos that consist of a heart-shaped jar with flames emitting from it; across the jar reads, "FOREVER". Way also used to wear glasses until 2006 when he received laser eye surgery.
