Mike Salzano (born June 14, 1957) is a former American football offensive guard. He played college football at the University of North Carolina. Early years Salzano attended Northern High School, where he practiced football and track. He received All-conference honors in both sports as a senior. He also set the North Carolina High School Athletic Association record for the 4-A shot put with a 61-feet, 41/2-inches throw. He accepted a football scholarship from the University of North Carolina. He became a four-year starter at offensive guard. He was limited with injuries as a sophomore. He was named All-ACC in his last 2 seasons. He was named third-team All-American as a junior. He also competed in track, setting the school record in the shot put with a 58-51/2 throw. Professional career Salzano was selected by the Dallas Cowboys in the sixth round (160th overal) of the 1979 NFL Draft, to play offensive guard. On August 6, he was traded to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a draft choice (not exercised). He was tried at center before being released on August 14. On February, 6, 1980, he was signed as a free agent by the Seattle Seahawks, with the intention of converting him into a linebacker. He was released before the start of the season.
