Mike Nazzaro

Mike Nazzaro is an American music industry executive. He has worked in the promotion and marketing departments at both Epic Records (Sony Music)and Universal Republic Records (Universal Music Group) since 2000. He also served in the independent promotion departments at Artemis and Glassnote Records. In 2010, he founded Type One Records and Talent Management which represents the Los Angeles based pop/rock band Lights Over Paris.
Early Life/College Years
He grew up playing drums in different bands in the suburbs of Boston, Massachusetts and won Boston's legendary rock station WBCN's "Battle Of The High School Bands". Nazzaro went on to study Marketing at the University of Florida and graduated in 2000. While in college he ran the concert booking department of Student Government Productions at the University of Florida, which is the nation's largest student run concert booking organization. During summers he would go to New York City and interned at independent label Glassnote Records for industry executive Daniel Glass. After college in 2000, Nazzaro went on to be one of the founding promotion executives at Artemis Records where he worked with Steve Earle, The Pretenders, Kurupt, Warren Zevon, Graham Nash and the Baha Men.
Epic Records
In 2002, Nazzaro was hired by Epic Records/Sony Music as the Northeast Regional Promotion and Marketing Manager. In this position, Nazzaro worked with such artists as Good Charlotte, Jennifer Lopez, Celine Dion, Franz Ferdinand, Modest Mouse, Natasha Beddingfield, The Fray, Audioslave and Howie Day.
Universal Records
In 2007, Nazzaro moved back to New York City to head up the Top40 Department at Universal Republic Records/Universal Music Group as Senior National Director of Top40 Promotion. Here, Nazzaro was instrumental in breaking the careers of Top40 artists Taylor Swift, Amy Winehouse, Colbie Caillat, Jay Sean, Kevin Rudolf, Hinder and Owl City selling over 50 million digital downloads combined. Nazzaro's achievements at Universal included promoting Taylor Swift's single "You Belong With Me", which on October 13, 2009 became the first country crossover No. 1 at Pop Radio since the radio airplay list adopted Nielsen BDS-monitored data in 1990.
Charity
Mr. Nazzaro works with the entertainment division of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in New York, NY which hosts the United States largest fundraiser for Juvenile Diabetes every year. In 2010, the JDRF NYC Promise Ball raised over $1.5 million dollars for Juvenile Diabetes.
Honors
In 2009, FMQB Magazine, one of the music industries leading trade magazines named Mr. Nazzaro as the "Most Promising Promotion Executive of The Year".
