Mike Milinkovich

Mike Milinkovich is the executive director of Eclipse Foundation Inc., a member-based, nonprofit corporation supporting the Eclipse open source community and its commercial ecosystem.
Milinkovich has been involved in the software industry for over thirty years in a variety of leadership roles, including software engineering, product management, business development, and IP licensing.
Education
Milinkovich earned his Master of Science degree in Information and Systems Sciences and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
Career
Milinkovich began his career in 1983, at Bell Northern Research (BNR) in the corporate financial analysis group. After completing his Masters, he returned to BNR as a member of scientific staff in 1987.
He joined Object Technology International (OTI) as a software engineer, in 1988, and in February 1995, became the Vice President of Technology Alliances.  
In 1996, following the acquisition of OTI by IBM, he assumed the role of Strategy Manager for IBM’s VisualAge Integrated Development Environment (IDE). VisualAge Micro Edition, which supported the development of embedded Java applications and cross-system development, was a re-implementation of the IDE in Java. This version of VisualAge was the predecessor of the Eclipse IDE.
In 1999, Milinkovich left IBM and became Vice President of Business Development for The Object People. The Object People was acquired by Webgain in 2000, and following this acquisition, he transitioned into the role of Vice President of World Wide Services. In 2002, Milinkovich assumed the role of Vice President of Technical Services for Oracle.
In 2004, Milinkovich was appointed to the Executive Director role at the Eclipse Foundation.

Elected in 2007, Milinkovich currently sits on the executive committee of the Java Community Process (JCP).  In 2011, he was appointed to the board of OpenJDK for one year, and worked as a contributor to develop the OpenJDK governance model. In 2012, Milinkovich was elected to the board of the and held the positions of Director and Treasurer until 2018.
