Midbrain activation

Midbrain activation is a pseudoscience which claims to equip children to sense visual properties without actually seeing them, though science educators and rationalists go against it.
Dr. Makoto Shichida who devoted more than 40 years of research into the functioning of the brain, actually uses the term “Interbrain” rather than Midbrain. We will keep to the use of the term “Midbrain “ as this has been popularised by recent developments. Middle Brain also called the mesencephalon, manages the function of both left brain and right brain. It is the portion of the central nervous system it is located below the cerebral cortex and above the hindbrain . It is a small region of the brain that serves as a relay center for visual, Auditory and motor system information.
Function of the Mid-brain
Scientifically, it has been accepted that the midbrain is associated with vision, hearing, motor control, sleep/wake, arousal (alertness), and temperature regulation. The midbrain helps to relay information for vision and hearing. However, there is no scientific proof that the actual purpose of the Mid brain can be in any way "activated". With the advent of new technology and use of brain gym as well as specifically tuned music therapy children are being benefited in many ways. Particularly in the present scenario of Cutthroat competition, innumerable negative influences of TV, mobiles, violent animation videos, internet etc. the midbrain training definitely helps children between 5 and 16 years to improve memory, concentration, creativity, reading & writing skills and also fine motor skills etc.
Skepticism
Narendra Nayak a Mangaluru-based rationalist and activist, offered to pay Rs.5 lakh to any organisation that demonstrated a child’s ability to read after being blindfolded, which is one of the abilities that these organisations claim to train. the organisation withdrew from the challenge claiming that the individual has to be a theist to believe into this program.
