Microstructure informatics

Microstructure Informatics is the application of computer science and information technology in the field of materials science and engineering.
Overview
Microstructure informatics deals with algorithms, databases and information systems, web technologies, artificial intelligence and soft computing, information and computation theory, software engineering, data mining, image processing, modeling and simulation, signal processing, discrete mathematics, statistics, material internal structure (microstructure), quantitative metallography, materials properties, and material performance. Microstructure informatics generates new knowledge as well as computational tools to create that knowledge. Microstructure informatics is a major building block for integrated computational materials engineering (ICME).
