Michael W. Koontz

Michael W. Koontz (born 1953) as in American Conservative Party politician who was his party's candidate for Governor of New Jersey in 2001. Koontz was a candidate for State Senator in 1997, winning 2% of the vote against Republican incumbent Gerald Cardinale. He ran for the U.S. House of Representatives in 1998 and received .5% of the vote against Democratic U.S. Rep. Steve Rothman and Republican Steve Lonegan. In 1999, he sought election to the State Assembly and received .4% of the vote against Republican incumbents Charlotte Vandervalk and John Rooney. In 2001, he was the New Jersey Conservative Party candidate for Governor against Democrat James McGreevey, Republican Bret Schundler, and seven independent candidates. He received 1,949 votes statewide (.09%), finishing seventh in a field of nine candidates.
