Michael Kallman is a sergeant with the Broward Sheriff's Office who received scrutiny for joking about a rubber bullet striking a demonstrator in Miami, Florida in November 2003. The demonstration was to encourage global fair trade. Kallman apologized for the incident after the tape was made public. The Broward Sheriff's Office has taken no disciplinary action against Kallman. Kallman's immediate supervisor was Major John E. Brooks at the time, which as a result prompted a formal apology from Brooks as well. "We want to apologize about those remarks that were made, both about her and about the event to say that we're sorry those remarks were made," he said to ABC News.
