Michael Greenburg

Michael Greenburg (born April 29, 1951) is an American writer, producer and director. He was born in San Antonio Texas and grew up in Scarsdale, New York. Michael headed west to attend the University of Southern California where he graduated in 1973. Three years on the World Pro Skiing Circuit and four years as an assistant director led to his producing break in 1979 thanks to Don Ohlmeyer on the NBC Mini Series The Golden Moment. He has since produced over 400 hours of prime time television.
Career
Michael Greenburg and his brother Ross Greenburg (Miracle, , 54 Emmys and the former President of HBO SPORTS) are currently producing NHL Original Programming. Michael is currently producing the Quest for the Stanley Cup. Prior to Quest, he produced the Emmy-nominated series ] Presents: The Road to the NHL Winter Classic. Michael produced The Road to the NHL Winter Classic and NHL Stadium Series for EPiX and Rogers SportsNet last season as well. In 2014, Michael produced the highly acclaimed series NHL Revealed: A Season Like No Other, a behind the scenes documentary series featuring the six outdoor Stadium Games and Sochi Olympics for NBC Sports and the CBC. The Greenburg Bros are also producing the feature film Game of Shadows, written and directed by Ron Shelton and based on the New York Times Bestseller. Michael is adapting the best selling Cris De Niro novels for the big screen with the author and his writing and producing partner Gerard de Marigny.
Michael was the Executive Producer of Score Productions Inc. (2007-2012), a wholly owned subsidiary of Score Media Inc. (TSX: SCR). Score Media's main asset is The Score television network, a sports network available across Canada. Score Media also operated The Score Radio Nework, which was available across North America on SIRIUS-XM Satellite Radio, and other interactive assets including theScore.com and Score Mobile.
Prior to his Score deal, Michael and his production partner Richard Dean Anderson, operating under their production company banner Gekko Film Corp, together with MGM Worldwide Television, produced their decade long hit series Stargate SG-1. Stargate SG-1 premiered on Showtime during the summer of 1997 and continued for four seasons and then continued on the Syfy Network, FOX syndication and continues to air on over a hundred countries throughout the world. Michael also produced Stargate Atlantis: Rising, the two-hour premiere spin-off pilot of Stargate SG-1. The two Stargate series were the highest rated shows in the history of the Syfy Network.
Before their MGM commitment, Michael and Rick had an overall deal with Paramount Pictures developing and producing television films and series. In 1995, under this agreement, Michael produced Firehouse, a CBS pilot about a rescue fire station in the Soho area of Manhattan. Michael and Rick produced Firehouse with Tom Fontana ', OZ) on location in New York. It turned out to be five years ahead of its time. Michael also produced the critically acclaimed Legend, a quirky western adventure series set in 1876 which starred Rick as Ernest Pratt, an inked-stained wretch of a dime novelist who reluctantly assumed the role of his own fictitious literary hero Nicodemus Legend. A Legend remake is always in development.
Prior to Legend, in 1993, Michael filmed two highly rated MacGyver movies on location in London for ABC television: MacGyver: The Lost Treasure of Atlantis, and MacGyver: Trail to Doomsday.
Michael produced the iconic MacGyver series from 1986-1992 and won many awards including: The Environmental Media's Continuing Commitment Award, a Vision Award, a Golden Reel Award, and TV Week's . MacGyver went off the air on ABC with a 23 share.
Michael has also produced feature films: Alan Quartermain and the Lost City of Gold, and the IMAX film My Strange Uncle, as well as various other television films, which include: In the Eye of a Stranger, The Vegas Strip War and Dixie: Changing Habits.
Personal life
Michael and his choreographer/director wife Nikki are presently living in Nashville with their children DJ and Kenya, 7 horses, 3 dogs and a cat. Michael is an active supporter of animal rights causes in Africa, Canada, and The United States. He had briefly been married to actress Sharon Stone.
