Michael A. Moon

Michael A. Moon is a prominent Canadian defence attorney based in Brampton, Ontario. He represents alleged terrorist Steven Vikash Chand as part of the on-going Toronto terrorism case.
He is also noted for defending other high profile cases, including the 2005 trial and conviction of Erhun Candir for murdering his wife outside Bramalea High School, defending exotic dancer Ivana Levkovic against accusations she neglected two infants and later hid their bodies, and representing the Canadian Arab Federation as an intervener in the Supreme Court hearing of Minister of Justice et al. v. Omar Ahmed Khadr.
2006 Terrorism case
Throughout the trial, Moon has argued that what prosecutors allege was a Jihadist training camp, was simply a "foolish and ignorant attempt to camp in the dead of winter in Ontario".
While the terrorism case was still in the preliminary hearing stage, Moon told reporters that Canadian Security Intelligence Service mole Mubin Shaikh played an "interesting" role, having "decided on the Orillia property where the camp was going to be held. Mubin Shaikh himself gave exhortational sermons on Jihad at the camp"
When the preliminary hearing was cut short, Moon criticised the prosecution stating that the hearing was ultimately a "waste of taxpayers' money", and the move towards a direct indictment was to cover up what a "sham" the hearings were becoming.
He was one of the lawyers who opposed any publication ban prohibiting media from giving details about the legal hearings.
