Micah Kesselring (born August 27, 1993) is an American slide guitar prodigy.
Biography Micah Kesselring was born on August 27, 1993 to Mark and Lisa Kesselring of South Bloomingville, Ohio in the United States. His father helped teach him to play the drum kitat age six, and began playing and teaching himself electric guitar at age nine. He taught himself slide guitar or Dobro at age 13 . He is entirely a self taught musician.Micah is a winner of the Arizona Jeans Music Contest and has been featured in Guitar Player Magazine , The Columbus Dispatch , The Athens Messenger, On The Wag's and Elliott Show: Q-FM-96 National Radio Broadcast . Kesselring is also a member of The Columbus Blues Alliance, and is representing them at the International Blues Challenge Youth Showcase in Memphis, Tennessee. He has been a member of the Columbus Blues Alliance since July of 2008.
Influences Kesselring has many musical influences. Some of these influences include The Allman Brothers Band, Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Derek Trucks, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Led Zeppelin, BB King, Buddy Guy, Blind Willie McTell, Colin John, Keith Urban, Shooter Jennings and The Beatles. He has listed some of these influences in his Columbus Dispatch interview .
Discography In February 2008, Kesselring recorded his first album, entitled Dobro Blue. It features 6 titles, 3 of which Kesselring wrote, and 3 that were either traditional songs or cover songs. It was recorded at Insea Sound Shop Studios in Nelsonville, OH . He has plans to record another album with Columbus bluesman Jeffrey Hawkins sharing vocals and guitar, late winter of 2008.
