Mercedes De La Cruz

Mercedes De La Cruz is a Canadian actress and model.
Career
She began performing on stage at the age of three. As a young dancer, she performed in productions such as the Alberta Ballet Company's production of The Nutcracker and won numerous competitions and awards, including Outstanding Performer from Lecky's School of Dancing in 1994. She then began to study acting.
As a model, De La Cruz has appeared on the cover of ALEPH Magazine, was Former Miss Hawaiian Tropic, Poster Girl Molson Canadian and secured a contract for The Brick before Cindy Crawford took the campaign over. After a successful modelling career, De La Cruz made the transition to a supporting actor, being described as a "great actress" by of Academy Award nominee Sally Kirkland. For her role as Carla, a savvy pregnant prostitute, in Ramshackle Blues, De La Cruz was nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2019 Vancouver Badass Film Festival. In 2021, De La Cruz was awarded Best Actress from the World Film Carnival Singapore for her performance in the mystery/horror film Because You’re Dead To Me from writer/director Chris Maruna.
In 2009 De La Cruz moved to Vancouver to pursue acting full time, beginning with music videos and commercials. She subsequently landed roles in numerous film and television productions, including Hallmark Channel's Right in Front of Me opposite Janel Parrish, 's Lonestar Christmas opposite Marco Grazzini, 's opposite Freddie Highmore, Bravo's Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce opposite Lisa Edelstein, History's Project Blue Book opposite Aidan Gillen and The WB's Supernatural opposite Jared Padalecki.
In November 2020, De La Cruz relocated to Belgrade to live with her long-term Serbian partner. She continued to work in Canada, commuting between Europe and North America for filming commitments. In June 2021, De La Cruz filmed her first role in Serbia, in The Machine for Legendary Pictures opposite Bert Kreischer.
In 2021, De La Cruz was admitted into the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences as a voting member for the Emmy Awards.
