Menkes Developments

Menkes Developments Ltd is a family-operated business in Toronto. With deep roots in the City, the Company was established nearly 65 years ago by Murray Menkes, an entrepreneur and businessman, who initially wanted his business to be focused on building single-family homes. Over the years, Menkes grew to creating entire mixed-use communities, becoming a fully integrated, multi-disciplinary real estate development company.
Murray Menkes (died 2013) was a Canadian property developer. He was born in Toronto; his parents had come to Canada from Poland. In 1954 he started a real estate development firm, Menkes Developments Ltd., in North York, Ontario, which became one of the largest developers in the Toronto area.
Murray was honoured with the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP).
Murray Menkes is responsible for the development of a number of landmark buildings in Toronto including Empress Walk in North York, the Four Seasons Hotel and Residences, and Harbour Plaza Residences.
Jared Menkes is the Vice President of Menkes Developments and the grandson of the company's founder, Murray Menkes. In 2013, he was cited as one of the five young Torontarians on the verge of greatness by Toronto Life due to his dominance in the downtown Toronto condo market.
Menkes Developments has communities across the Greater Toronto Area including Georgetown, Ontario, Thornhill, Ontario, Oakville, Ontario, Midtown, Toronto, Downtown, Toronto and North York, Ontario.
