Meng Zhaojun (born Pei County, Jiangsu Province, 1941) is a Chinese calligrapher noted for his restoration of the Han Dynasty calligraphic tablet Wind Song of Emperor Liu Bang. Wind Song restoration Meng worked for three years on the restoration of the Wind Song of Emperor Liu Bang. This tablet, dating from the Han Dynasty, had deteriorated over the years to the point where nine characters were completely obliterated. By studying the tablet as well as other calligraphic dictionaries related to the period, Meng was able to discern the missing nine characters, and thus to produce a restored reproduction of the original tablet, now known as the Jiazi Tablet. This work was documented in episode 4 of Chinese Calligraphy of the Past 5000 Years, broadcast on CCTV-4 in January 2013. In November 2013, broadcast an interview with Meng explaining the intricacies of Chinese calligraphy to foreigners.
