Memorycoin

Memorycoin is a payment system forked from Protoshares. It allows for the election of officers to provide services for the coin. Uniquely, Memorycoin offers many services not implemented in other coins: AES-NI instruction PoW algorithem, P2Pool, and Electrum Wallet. The development team is currently in the process of updating the coin with new PoS features.
Background
Memorycoin v1 was initially launched by FreeTrade, a technical developer who has helped create and maintain Protoshares. After slight altercations in the community and a disregard for his disatisfaction, he went to work on Memorycoin v2.
Memorycoin v2 was launched on December 15, 2013. The first blocks had very low rewards to help miners adopt Memorycoin without a great advantage. Memorycoin v2 Launch has an approximate premine of 7.3% of the total supply (10 million coins), and was developed with investors in mind. With its 5% block reward decrease, Memorycoin's IPO became a huge hit, starting at an incredible price of 0.001BTC per MMC. Bear in mind that the price of Bitcoin was around $1,000 at the time.
Protoshares block owners were able to retrieve Memorycoins after block 8820, approximately 37 days after the launch.
Memorycoin developers and charity were initially paid at a rate of $360 a day to keep the coin moving forward. FreeTrade had held 3 positions, making $1080 a day for the first few weeks - until other developers announced their candidacy.
However, the old community continued to renegade against FreeTrade, bashing him for his premined stake.
While market conditions have continued their bearish trend in cryptocurrencies and alt-coins in general in the beginning of year 2014, many Memorycoin CPU miners have seen a decrease of over 1000% in their assumed profits, creating a staggering decrease in community and miner support.
At this pace, several internet users have designated Memorycoin as a dead coin. However, it is much alive to this day.
The developers have recently acknowledged the fact that Memorycoin v3 is now being developed and will bring this coin back to previous price levels despite the supply rate being 75% of what it was at the IPO.
