A megabeat, also known as punk drums, is a drum beat commonly found through out modern punk rock, specifically in (but not limited to) hardcore punk and pop punk music. It is played by hitting consistent eighth notes on the high hat, with one of your hands. The first beat is hit on the bass drum, with a snare hit on "one and", "two and", "three and" and lastly, on "four and". It is not to be confused with a blast beat, which is where the snare hits start on one as opposed to "one and".
