MedFriendly is a website that provides non technical medical information intended for the general public. MedFriendly is used as a reference by the U.S. government's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and is listed as a recommended website in an objective text . All of the content of MedFriendly has been written by the website’s founder, Dr. Dominic A. Carone, a board certified neuropsychologist in Syracuse, NY. In addition to MedFriendly's encyclopedic format, it also has a U.S. hospital index, a message board, blog, measurements section, and featured articles. The blog recently gained attention for it's Fast Food Wars section in which a new formula was created to alert consumers as to the unhealthiness of various foods across fast food restaurants. The formula, known as the "Unhealthy Index" takes the average iof a food's total calories, saturated fat, trans fats, cholesterol, sodium, carbohydrates, aand divides this number by six. Lastly, MedFriendly also includes a fee for service option in which readers can submit medical information requests.
