Meagan J. Meehan

Meagan J. Meehan also so know as (Meagan Juliet Meehan) born on (June 17, 1987) is an author, abstract artist, journalist, curator and founder of the “ Conscious Perceptionalism” art practice.
Early life
Meagan Juliet Meehan was born on June 17, 1987, in Manhasset, Long Island, New York. She is the only child of Mary and Michael Meehan. Having been homeschooled, Meehan is a strong supporter of both homeschooling and online learning as well as animal rights. She is a dual citizen of both the United States and the Republic of Ireland. Her father's family is from Donegal and Sligo while her mother's family hails from Cork and Kerry. Meehan has few relatives in America. During her childhood and adolescence, Meehan traveled frequently throughout the United States and abroad. She attributes travel as a major source of her creativity.
Art career
Meehan's first exhibition was at a group art exhibition hosted by Long Island's Fire Island Lighthouse in July 2009. Meehan subsequently partook in shows around Long Island. She was featured in several group exhibitions at the East End Art Center in Riverhead where she won third place in an "Outsider Artwork" competition.
In 2011, one of her sculptures was awarded 1st prize at the Old Guild in Cutchouge. Since 2012, Meehan has taken part in the annual 10 x 10 art show (first hosted by The South Street Gallery and now by VSOP Projects) in Greenport from late November to early January. Meehan made her first official sales at her debut 10 x 10 participation in 2012 and has since sold more than four dozen pieces. Meehan annually participates in annual the postcard shows held Brooklyn's A.I.R. Gallery and Visual AIDS Postcards from the Edge. In 2015, her works were showcased on Governors Island courtesy of the Sculptors Alliance. That same year, her art was displayed in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, via a RAW Artist showcase and at the now-defunct Gateway Art Center in Manhattan. Other venues include the Bayside Historical Society, Guild Hall in the Hamptons, Studio East Gallery, BRIC Media and locations associated with the Oyster Bay Artist Rotational of which Meehan is a member. In 2016, Meehan showcased art at Brooklyn's Gallery Petite. That year, she also started writing for ARTBLEND Gallery and has since showcased artwork with them at New York's famed ArtExpo. In 2018, she partnered with ARTBLEND collaborators Mint Art Haus to have her work featured at Miami Spectrum, part of Art Basel.
In October 2020, Meehan became a member of the board of directors at the Westbury Arts Council. She focuses on programming and development and is a participating artist on mural project around the town. In January 2020, Meehan joined the Huntington Arts Council. Her piece entitled “Dance of the Treasure Chest” was exhibited in their “Paradoxical Paradigms” exhibition which ran until March 2020.
