Md. Hashem (born 10 January 1947 at Sreekrishnapur village in Noakhali) is a Bangladeshi composer and singer. He is the first who worked and researched on regional language of Noakhali and composed songs in this language. The life and nature of the southern coastal region of Bangladesh, especially Noakhali is reflected in his songs. He is known as the Monarch of 'Noakhalir Ancholic Gan'. Education and career Hashem received a Diploma in Music from Dhaka Music College in 1968 and MA in Bengali literature from the University of Dhaka in 1969. Hashem began his career as a lecturer in music at Dhaka Music college in 1970. Later he took the profession of teaching and joined Kabirhat Government College in Noakhai. He retired as a professor of Bengali Literature from Noakhali Government College in 2005. Hashem's orks have appeared on Radio Bangladesh and Bangladesh Television. He is the founder-director of 'Hashem Sangeet Academy' in Noakhali. The book Noakhalir Ancholic Gan containing hundreds of his famous songs has been published. Some of his more notable songs include 'Ango bari Noakhali Royal District Vai', 'Ango Uttor Barir Taara', and 'Rickshaw Walla Kuskai chala estishon jaiyam'.
