McGuintyism

McGuintyism is the art of creating policy, legislation or laws that circumvent science in favor of appeasing an individual, group, belief or a movement. The undermining of science mirrors the McCarthyism from the 1940’s and 1950’s that attacked the loyalty of U.S. citizens through unsubstantiated accusations. When organized or applied in politics the policy making takes on the form of a Salem witch trial.
Origins
The name is a combination of McGuinty and the suffix commonly used to describe a disorder or attribute of a person. The term is a political slang use in political discussions in Ontario. The term is currently view by some as a neologism.
