MC SubZero (born Varunan Balasunderam on March 29th, 1985) is an British rapper, producer, political activist and graduate of Sri Lankan descent. He first burst onto the scene by creating numerous mixtapes. He is highly regarded for his technical rapping skill on the microphone. In 2004 he sparked notorious popularity within the 100,000 strong tamil community in London when he released the controversial song ‘Tamilz’ that told epic tales of Tamil gang violence in London. He has developed an army of fans all over the world that have dedicated many websites to his favour. He has performed at numerous live shows that include Hackney Empire & Leatherhead Theatre and has also appeared on the BBC Asian Network. Early Life Varunan was born in London - North Middlesex Hospital to Sri-Lankan Tamil parents. He began rapping at an early age often reciting many of the rappers who he admired. Over time he would develope his lyricism and start writing his own lyrics. His lyrics were often deemed brutal, blunt and as he would interpret it as 'not watered' down. Once he developed his signature style of rhyming - He took form of MC SubZero.. He is often considered as one of the fastest rappers in the UK. Education After MC SubZero completed his secondary school studies, he then went onto college to pursue a AVCE course in ICT. Following the footsteps of his older brother and sister, he then enrolled into Westminster University. In 2009 he graduated with a BSc in Computer Studies. Music Career In 2005 MC SubZero achieved further worldwide status collaborating with Cypress Hill's B-Real on a track called 'Breathe'.It appeared on 'The Gunslinger' mixtape which was made available in all major stores including HMV & Amazon. He then continued to put out mixtapes to build up anticipation for his debut album. In 2010 he announced the release of 'Mind of a Fortress' - His debut Album. The album is said to be really dark incorperating elements of Grime & Hip-Hop.
